Apparently, Wattpad has added new policies regarding the kind of content allowed on the platform, and personally, I have pretty negative feelings about them.
Not because I think there shouldn’t be any limits at all, but because some of these new criteria seem to leave quite a lot of room for interpretation when it comes to what can be considered overly sexual, explicit, violent, or written simply for shock value. And after so many years of reading and writing fanfics, I think one of the things that draws so many people to this medium in the first place is precisely the creative freedom it offers.
Obviously, we’ll have to see how these policies are actually enforced and how strict Wattpad ends up being about them. Maybe absolutely nothing will change for me.
But I wanted to say this now: if they eventually start affecting what I’m able to publish, or if I have to start modifying chapters just to keep them acceptable for the platform, I’ll probably leave Wattpad.
And I’m not saying that in a “oh no! I’m such a big deal, Wattpad will die without me” kind of way or anything like that lmao. I simply have very little interest in going back and forth with every chapter, removing scenes or changing parts of a story solely to make sure they’re acceptable.
Especially because I have some chapters planned that are considerably more explicit, brutal, or violent than others I’ve already published, and I don’t want to write them while constantly wondering where exactly Wattpad is going to draw the line.
For now, nothing changes. I’ll keep publishing normally, and I genuinely hope all of this ends up being much less restrictive than it currently sounds. I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up in case the opposite happens someday and I suddenly disappear from the platform or have to move the story somewhere else.
That’s pretty much it. I hope you understand, I hope I won’t have to delete or change anything, and, as always, thank you for continuing to read.
Have a good day!

@Ghostminati69 That's interesting to hear, since I actually have a draft with several chapters of a smut-focused fic. I guess I'll find out what happens once I try to publish it lol. What has happened to me before is Wattpad flagging suggestive images I've added to drafts, so I ended up deleting them. That much I know for sure.
