@xsarcasticbookworm I know! It's like they pick and choose which villains get complexity and forgiveness and which don't. Belle sent Gaston into the river of lost souls for Rumple, and yet the true love's kiss didn't work? Sweet innocent Belle,  sentenced Gaston to an eternal hell for him, and that's not true love? Seriously? It's getting a bit obvious that they're running out of plot twists to bring in.
