The strawberry-blonde woman held a flashlight in her hand, the other hand being held out next to her in a protective manner. A child, around ten, was behind her, a knife in hand, following the woman closely. They had wandered into an abandoned shopping centre in hopes of finding needed materials for their camp, which only held a fraction of their original group after the crusade came through.
A friend of Emery’s had let the pair go on a run in order to give the mother a break from the newborn twins, knowing that she and Lorraine would be safe. For a ten-year-old, Lorraine was rather smart, having been on runs more often than Emery.
The two walked into an aisle that had cans, Lorraine looking through the food while Emery kept watch around them. “Shove anything into the cart, unless the can’s been damaged,” her mother muttered, earning a nod from the child.
However, Emery stammered, her eyes widening when she heard a slight commotion, causing her to step back and closer to Lorraine. “If an infected walks by, I’ll take care of it,” she whispered.

Her arms wrapped tightly around him, her grip screaming that she was afraid to let go; she was terrified that this was just another nightmare, that if she opened her eyes again, she’d be back in the cabin alone. “You’re-” she paused, taking a deep breath to slow her crying, “You’re gonna come back with us, right?”

The woman gently held Erwin, one of her hands holding his head while the other was wrapped around him and Lorraine. She could tell how much he missed her, and she hoped that he could tell how much she had missed him. Similarly, she wasn't good at expressing how she felt due to how she was raised, but here, in a situation where she was reunited with the man she loved? She couldn't help but cry and hold onto him like the world depended on it. “Yeah- Twins. It was unexpected, but they're both healthy,” she answered, nuzzling her head against his. “I love you…”

Erwin had gratefully hugged Lorraine, gently placing a quick kiss to her forehead, shaking his head as he listened to her. "No, no, I had to know my family was safe." He mumbled softly, before smiling - the expression tired yet genuine. "I'm glad you like it, I'm glad." The man mumbled. He was more than glad - he was estatic to have seen both of them live and well; he wanted to jump around, laugh and cry all at once, but, Erwin always struggled with expressing himself - and he was comforting them.

Erwin gently leaned upwards and pecked Emery's cheeks, resting his face into her neck. He took in a soft breath, easing. It'd been so long since he'd felt that - felt her warmth, the comfort and her scent had obviously reminded him of that. He gently nuzzled the woman's neck, before freezing. He pulled away slightly, wide-eyed. "Twins?" He asked quietly, before frantically shaking his head, "No, no, it's okay, I'm here."

Erwin gently tugged the busted earphones out of his ears - the white wires stiffly curled around in fixed positions, as the buds played distorted music; the upbeat tunes of the “Hello Dolly” soundtrack crackling through what sounded to be layers of water. His eyes were locked onto the house he was approaching - slightly nervous. He stuffed the earphones into his pocket as he began to take his phone out of his worn, green denim jacket to turn the music off - looking at the cracked screen with a grimace. He knew it wouldn't be too long until the notification shade would be filled with messages from his relatives asking where he was.

But, Emery had offered to help him study. He did need the help - as much as he didn't want to admit it, he didn't excel at every subject he took. Plus, he couldn't help but feel a strange pull towards her - it was similar to the peculiar comfortableness he got from Tiffany and Sylvester, but it was stronger around Emery.

With a quiet sigh, Erwin turned towards the house, beginning to walk up to the front door - hands stuffed into his pickets.

She only seemed to shake her head, her eyebrows furrowing as her gaze shifted to his once more. “I don’t think you understand, yet- I was in charge of the people who sacrificed their lives and I didn’t even defeat Azazel… He reigned for so long and so many people suffered because I wasn’t able to kill him; Viradecthis was trapped by him and I was too worried about my sister to just kill him. I couldn’t do it, Erwin.” Her eyes welled up with tears again at the mere thought of the war. The deaths, injuries, everything still pained her. “I don’t know how to.”

Emery rolled her eyes, a dry laugh escaping her lips, “Erwin, I never had a childhood; Celestial or now, I’ve never had one so I don’t even know how to function as a kid,” she mumbled, starting to play with the hem of her sweatshirt. She went to speak again, but instead flopped back onto her bed, closing her eyes while sighing. “I wish it were that simple, but it isn’t. I remember everything from Selnoria, so while my body is a kid, I don’t know how to be one…” she trailed off while her eyes wandered over to look up at his. Even though she didn’t say it, his advice did help, in a way; she didn’t know how to live her life as a normal teen would since she never got to experience it. Celestial lives were different, with hers being much different than other Celestials do to her royal blood.

Her expression lifted, however only slightly, at his reassurance, but she still felt bad about it. “Well- now you know everything you’ve gone through was real and not the product of your imagination, right?” she rambled, in hopes to lighten the darkened mood. When he blushed, she noticed it, which caused her to turn her head away from him, almost shoving her face into her pillow. “What- What do you all remember, or is it just fragments of small memories and scattered and such?” she inquired, slowly turning to lay on her side so she could look up at him.

As Erwin moved to wipe Emery’s tear, she immediately retracted from him, her hand resting on her lap as she tried to wipe the tears herself, nervously laughing. “S-sorry,” she stammered, sniffling quietly, “I didn’t mean to get emotional,” she had finished, keeping her gaze down as she thought to herself. While his words helped slightly, it still didn’t change her mind about why she blamed herself- it was a lot of trauma and not all of it was ready to be addressed or unpacked. “How can I not be sad, Erwin?” she asked in a quiet murmur.

"No, no. You were put under so much pressure, do not blame yourself. We were young, Emery." Erwin sighed, "You shouldn't blame yourself. Everyone had a chance to live, you didn't change that outcome. Azazel did. Our own actions as individuals did. Not you." He rambled, "Calm down - take your mind off of it, please?" The brunette continued, eyebrows furrowing.

The woman was completely out of breath, panting as she wiped blood off of her cheek, which only smeared it more. Needless to say, she was covered in it- and half of it wasn't hers. Almost immediately, she dropped her weapon, and quickly ran over to Erwin; she gently cupped his cheeks, retracting when she noticed she got blood on them, mumbling an apology. “Love… what happened? I tried everything to find you- it was so hard,” she muttered, her face contorting into a saddened expression as she began to cry. She tightly held onto him, expressing how much she had missed him and how happy she was that he could return home.

Her expression showed how much she missed him; Emery wasn't one to express her emotions openly, except, only when she was around Erwin. He was the singular exception, which also included Sylvester, though. However, when he squeezed his hand, a sniffle left her as she also squeezed his hand. “I-I’ve missed this- I’ve missed you,” she stammered while she looked up at him. “Let's get home, okay? So you can rest- and- and get used to everything again. While we’re on the road you can ask me anything you want,” she rambled, hesitantly cupping his cheeks with a wobbly smile. “I love you so much,” she added, quickly pecking his cheek.

The avian began to relax in her hold more, his wings gently wrapping around her more. He gently nodded at her reassurance, slowly calming down. When she took Erwin's hand, the man's eyes fell to them - an almost curious look tainting his features. Of course, he remembered doing such with the woman - but it felt different than when Nymwah would hold it. It felt /better/, more natural. That's what confused him - Nymwah loved him, didn't she? And he'd loved her - at least, he thinks he did. Or she had just broken him down into thinking it, and the latter scared him. He didn't want to think that he could've been made so vulnerable. Hesitantly, and slowly, Erwin carefully squeezing her hand as he held it. ❛❛Okay. She - she said a lot about you.❜❜ The man mumbled, looking to the floor instead, ashamed - but did seem to relax once more when she began to play with his hair.

However, she did sigh, gently taking his hand, “She did. The most I can do is show memories- I can do it now or when someone’s asleep, although, that's out of my control. I do it without knowing; I can't control when I view or share a memory during my sleep,” she explained, delicately playing with his hair when he leant his head against her shoulder.

◇˗ˏ【 Erwin - son  of  Azazel  and  Idrill ,  brother  to  Lorelie . 】

The room was a luxurious sea of greens and blues, with the faintest glimmers of purple and silver. The ceiling itself was a soft white, decorated with swirls in circles - like clouds or waves, moving soothingly in sync. The walls were a dark blue - a strong navy blue - coated in a solid yet calming shade. They held little to no decoration, however, other than the large, arch-like windows, lined up on the wall that over looked the outside world. They donned elegant, rich drapes - a lighter shade of blue - tied to the sides with woven, green ropes. The light spilled into the room, casting an almost innocent feel to the area, the most noticeable being the white marble-styled floor. In the centre of the floor laid a medium sized, circular rug (decorated in a purple and blue swirl). Behind it was a double bed, in a rich dark green colour - the finer details of the sheets and pillows being silver and the frame being a dark, dark wood. On the opposite side of the room, there was a cabriole; the seating only for two people - the cushioned bottle green surfaces being lined with the same frame as the bed. Surrounding the furniture were dark wooden shelves, each slot filled with a book.

This was clearly a poor choice of environment to interrogate someone. Which, unfortunately Erwin was doing. He was bound to the confines of his bedroom for this event - as otherwise it might be snatched from underneath his nose, and he'd be rewarded with a punishment for leaving the palace. He didn't understand, yes, it was for his safety, but he had managed to capture a Celestial. /A Celestial/.

His eyes did hesitantly wander from the ground to her's, once more - his cheeks beginning to grow a faint pink at the way she was looking at him. As much as he would've hated to have admitted it when they first met - he did find her pretty; he thought that her eyes were her prettiest feature, however, how they seemed to swirl with their own little universe. No - no, they /did/ swirl, with stars and other cosmic entities. It was just so unique and oddly calming - something he never thought he'd say about a Celestial. But, he did snap out of his state upon her statement, anxiously looking away, ❝N-No, it's okay, I promise. I was just - I don't do well with people in general. I want to get to know you.❞ He shamefully mumbled.

It made sense to Erwin why she would be hurt by Luna and Haruto's behaviour, even if he didn't fully grasp the mentalities that Celestials had. ❝Then we can change topic, Taeana.❞ Erwin replied, instinctively going to squeeze her hand. Though, he didn't ignore what she had to say when she elaborated, nodding slightly. ❝Even if it's not meant to happen, it has. There's nothing you can do to change it and honestly there should be nothing wrong with you growing attached to someone. Instead, you could work on trying to accept those feelings and approaching those that it involves with them too.❞ The man suggested, with a genuine expression on his face, though there was a hint of uncertainty - he hadn't really ever comforted someone before. His sister had pushed him away and his mother would deny any negative feelings he would pick up on. So, he had learnt to observe and interact - not to solve.

❝Well, I haven't exactly been the best person, either. The lawful imprisonment may not have been as lawful as I thought, for example.❞ Erwin replied, in an attempt to be comforting. ❝I believe that the measures your sister went to is safe.❞ He mumbled - not yet wanting to fully accept what happened was the right thing. He still saw his father a victim. Though, the brunette snorted before shrugging, ❝Well, in all honesty I don't see the issue. I mean, regardless of what I was taught, if we're soulmates then we must be a good couple. Logically.❞

In response, she shrugged, starting to play with his fingers as that's what she would do as a distraction. The way her parents treated her did hurt her, but she hated admitting it; she had to admit that she had grown attached to the parental figures, which was extremely uncommon for Celestials. “I- I want to change the subject. I don't want to talk about my parents,” she muttered, resting her head on her knees so she wasn't facing him. However, she seemed to relax when he ran his thumb over her knuckles, causing her to turn and look at their hands with a faint smile. Quietly, she sighed, “I just- I’m a Celestial; these sorta things shouldn’t bother me. I’m not meant to have parents or siblings- hell, I’m not meant to have a mortal soulmate. The only thing I’m supposed to do is my job; I have to keep the balance between the Light and the Dark,” she explained, huffing quietly as she hated all of this- but, however, she didn't hate Erwin, far from it.

Her eyes closed while she nodded, humming, “Of course- I shouldn’t have said those things and I need to learn to work through my anxiety and not lash out,” she responded, but did sigh afterwards. “It's been almost half a century since he's been turned to stone, but I fear he may return one day...” she mumbled, laughing afterwards at his teasing. “Y’know, you could just say the word, right? Unless you find a Celestial of Love, you’ll be stuck with me,” she teased in reply, looking up at him with a cockg smirk.

“I never would have noticed...” she mumbled, her eyes running over him as she took every detail about him in; his eyes, lips, hair, everything. His apology caused her to shake her head, “N-No, still, if you want to go home, you can. I don't want to make you more uncomfortable than you already are...”

❝I don't see the problem.❞ The voice muttured. It was in Erwin's usual tone, but it clearly wasn't him. Everything screamed Sylvester from head to toe; his crimson hues were covered with a pair of circular, black shades and he was covered in red and black. The red Hawian shirt had prints of black trees on it, in a haphazard pattern. The shirt itself was mostly unbuttoned and messily tucked into his black, skinny jeans. However, even though it seemed to be Sylvester, he was uncharacteristically quiet and solemn. ❝Why should he, a monster, get to roam freely? Why can't I? I've done nothing wrong. Why am I being punished?❞ He rambled, his eyebrows furrowing- not looking to Emery. ❝He hurts people. He hurts me. I don't, I'm not giving it back. If I can't have my body then I'll settle to having one.❞ He mumbled, his voice stern yet soft and on the verge of cracking - all at once.

Erwin's expression dropped upon entering the apartment. Once again, it had been a case of straying off and acting out of jealousy instead of focusing on an /actual/ hit. He knew it was getting out of hand, he couldn't go out constantly trying to scrape money together after getting distracted. It was getting out of hand. He was letting his emotions control him- influencing his work instead of calculating his every mood. He'd yet to tell Emery, too, and how long could he hide this?

The man seemed to stammer after shutting and locking the door- slumping against it once he had almost lazily put the chain on, with a gentle jingle. He was exhausted, conflict and a little light headed. Not only that, but the metallic stench of blood dying his clothes made his stomach churn; even as a hitman, the smell was overwhelming and wasn't something he enjoyed. He dropped the knife he had slipped up his jacket pocket, beginning to slowly trudge to the small hallway to the bathroom.

Erwin smiled at not only at her giggle and attitude, but the nickname too. "Understandably Beloved." He replied, softly.

"Emmy-" He began, gently wrapping his arms around her with a soft expression and sigh, "I'm not patient- I'm walking with you, I'm not waiting for you to reach a certain point. I don't want to preach you being your own person without helping you get to the point you can." He mumbled, placing a kiss to her forehead. "Change takes time."

A soft smile graced her lips, “Me too, Love, me too. I’d be pretty ticked if someone did that again,” she giggled, starting to make pancakes.

Though, she did sigh, “I-” she paused, averting her gaze, “But that feels like my worth; that it's my job to do the cleaning, the cooking, and it just makes me feel lazy when I don't do something,” she mumbled, hesitantly taking his hand. “I’m still not used to all of this. My late husband would always make me do the chores and tend to our child- so, it's always felt like it was my job,” she grumbled, walking into him and hesitantly hugging him. “Thank you for being patient with me and helping me get comfortable in this time period. I’ve gotten better at it.”

The door seemed to quietly click closed as Erwin snuck inside, not wanting to awake his beloved; he crept to the kitchen, washing any reminiscence of blood from his hands before gently dabbing his hands dry with a hand towel. He walked over to the freezer, grabbing a small ice pack to place over one of his hands as he began to take off his jacket; he wandered over to the coat hooks near the front door, placing the jacket up there via a small loop before placing the ice firmly against his knuckles.

Once the pain was gone- or moreso numbed, he placed the small package of ice back to their home before he slipped his shoes off, carrying them to his and Emery's room. Gently, he pushed the door open, quietly closing it behind him. He placed his shoes down with a soft smile, more than happily climbing into bed next to Emery. He presumed that she was still asleep, so he took extra care about getting into the bed and wrapping his arms around her.

Emery only leant into his touch, nodding as a response, “Okay...” she mumbled, closing her eyes before she decided to try to get up, only being too weak to stand and leaning against Erwin. “N-No- I haven't been near any flowers recently. We don't typically keep them in here,” she answered, starting to get dizzy again. “Alright... Push comes to shove, I call a doctor.”

Erwin's look only continued to soften, gently stroking her cheek with his thumb. "Well, you need rest then. Go and lie down, Beloved, I'll bring you a bucket and then I'll make you some food. What do you want? I'll make you a smoothie as well." He rambled, gently pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Maybe you've developed a new allergy? Have you been near any flowers?" He asked softly, "Just- just lay down and I'll find Sylvester. We'll get down to the bottom of this."

As an answer, Emery only shook her head, sighing, “I had some fruit and a few vegetables- nothing out of the norm. I went to make more food after I woke up, but I ended up throwing that up too,” she answered, leaning into his touch slowly. She looked weak, but didn't understand why; she knew she didn't eat anything out of the norm, as they were all her favourite foods.

Erwin had hesitantly walked up to the door, going to knock on it when his hand froze. He was starting to doubt himself and what he was going to do. He had to admit, seeing Emery again these past few months was nice- just as nice as when they were teens- so would it have been safer to just remain as they were? Though, despite his dilemma, his hesitance was proven futile as Sylvester grabbed the man's hand and move it against and away from the door- creating the knocking sound that Erwin had dreaded to make.

Erwin turned to the Vexter with a hateful glare, "Why would you do that?!" He snapped, under his breath however as not to cause any attention- especially due to it being night.

"What? You were being a pussy." Sylvester sighed, shrugging with a small eye roll. "I was helping- I just wanted to help- you've been talking about this all week-" He began, but was cut off by Erwin grumbling a complaint.

Emery only seemed to shrug, “I assumed it was fairly obvious that I wasn't human, or at least not from around here? I have an accent, my hair is naturally purple and my eyes are naturally yellow- I’m short. I don't know,” she sighed, eating her fruit before her expression fell. “Well, I give you my condolences. This isn't a place made for our kind. It's a horrendous world,” she sighed again, shaking her head.

Her eyebrows furrowed in thought, “Vorn? Did you say you were a Vexter?” she inquired, tilting her head to the side. “My family are Selnorian Ambassadors, they might’ve known your ancestors,” she comments before laughing at his continuation of his statement. But, did not when he said he’d get Erwin, “Thank you.”

Sylvester sighed, tilting his head to the sighed as he spoke, "Well- the thing is- we didn't know that." He rambled, "And my ex could travel through to dimensions and she's human- and I've been told of contacts and eye tattoos-" The Vexter continued, with furrowed eyebrows, before his expression softened, "Oh... I- I'm sorry. I live in a similar fear to you, I do understand." He mumbled quietly, hesitantly going to take her hand to reassure her.

"I- I don't know- we learn stuff about the other species and races in school since we could be summoned there before it was banned and I just didn't pay attention to any of it." Sylvester rambled, "I'm from Vorn. Uh- one of the- fu- it's been so long.. I don't even remember what my friends look like." He continued, before nodding softly, "I'll go get him."

Emery shrugged, “Well, guess what? I’m not human, so you won't even have to worry about what can and can't or will and won't scare me according to human society because, and you guessed it, I’m not human,” she deadpanned, sighing quietly. “I thought it would’ve been obvious that I wasn't since I can visit dreams and my eyes are flipping yellow?” she questioned in returning, tilting her head to the side. Though, she averted her gaze, “No, I was much older than eighteen. I was just afraid of how he would view me if I wasn't human... There was only one human who ever accepted be before Erwin,” she mumbled, looking to the ground with a slightly teary gaze.

His words puzzled her slightly, “Well, Selnorian is from another dimension, in the Beta Quadrant,” she explained, seemingly intrigued about his whereabouts. “Thank- thank you,” she stammered, faintly smiling.
