When I was a child I heard voices 

A coven of vampires likes in their own part of town, a gated off community. 

Some would sing and some would scream

Humans stay away because it is known they are 'dangerous' and scary. 

You soon find you have few choices 

Life is hard in the coven, it's not a place you stay willingly. 

I learned the voices died with me

Some of these vampires will have certain special abilities, such as controlling shadows or giving people hallucinations.

All vampires are capable and often will eat a human, not just suck their blood. To them, this coven, they eat and drink. But they avoid eating people too often due to legal reasons. But vampires will often suck people's blood with the permission of the person.
