I thought you might like this since I remembered you liked Encanto!
Also, this weirdly makes me think of Eve and Wesker.
Like, Wesker being a mentor to Eve when they first join S.T.A.R.S, and possibly being who convinced Eve they belonged at S.T.A.R.S in the first place. He makes Eve believe that they have a family they belong to.
But after Eve joins, they're overwhelmed by how everyone there seems so perfect compared to them, and even worse, how Wesker seems to expect more from them than Eve can handle, and over time, the pressure of striving to be perfect as Eve feels the others are, Eve eventually loses themselves.
Or, another interpretation, could be Eve actually having been working with Wesker before the events at the mansion, because their hatred for themself leads to them despising the others, who see Eve as their friend since they never meant to cause them a feeling of ostracization.
But, in actuality, Eve isn't with Wesker either. Instead, they despise him more than they do the others because he's who's warped their mind and turned them against the friends they made.
And so, when Wesker is supposedly dying at the mansion, Eve, who the others haven't discovered as having betrayed them, abandons Wesker when he pleads for their help, them declaring him the weakest of them all, and how they don't need him and can survive without him.
