Though truly, not much time had passed, the anticipation bubbled in his chest quickly, he’d interacted with her enough to know she wouldn’t blow up at him for such a thing, but that’s what his mind was used to, the turmoil of that house, their loud screeching, the words spat in vitriol…. His thoughts suddenly paused, conveniently before they’d returned to the worst parts, irises flickering, following her as she moved, though he initially flinched when her hand moved toward him, that was only instinct, relaxing immediately into the gentle touch. He sniffled a little at her words, eyes shifting lower, then back over to her as he heard her speak again. He seemed to consider it though he was hesitant “I-…. I don’t know… they…. Might be mad at me…” he mumbled, his jaw lightly clenching, “I don’t know” he repeated slowly, as if struggling to respond.
