how do you make your characters emotions stands out? I feel like my current writing is okay but it's flat, like no emotion nor whatsoever :(((

My urge to write is very very strong and ever since I started reading fanfiction again, it inspired me to write again. HOWEVER, I feel like my writing will not meet my expectations and so does the aesthetic of the book  does anyone have any recs on how to improve my writing while simultaneously enjoy doing it?
