“posedion,” he stated, and everyone stared at the man who had a whirlpool of water underneath him, hiding his legs. “god of the sea, bringer of earthquakes and creator of horses.” venus’ breath caught as she stared at the gods’ green eyes, that almost reassembled her own. “zeus,” he continued, and she glanced at the man above posedion, his eyes a light blue and in his hand was a lightning bolt ten times bigger than the ones you’d see during storms. “and hades,” she concluded, and venus saw out of the corner of her eye that ms. dodds, her deranged maths teacher, was smiling. her teeth looked so piercing venus felt a chill down her spine. “the god of the underworld, keeper of the dead. they all made a pact to not have any children for it would be too dangerous. venus.” venus jumped, startled at her name being called out amongst many yet again. she nudged grover to give him and exasperated look before turning back to mr. brunner. “yes, sir?” she questioned, her throat suddenly dry, just like it had been last week when he had asked her a question on the spot again. “do you know what the children of gods are called?” she bit her lip, nodding and replied with ease. “demigods, or half-bloods. but why-” she was cut off. “and why do you think they are called that?” he questioned again, and she mentally flailed. “because they are half god, half human. but mr-” mr. brunner’s voice cut through hers again and she could feel her classmates watching them like a tennis match. she could feel nancy’s eyes prodding her, and she made an effort to make herself look less flustered. she failed. “why did gods find mortals irresistible?” she widened her eyes, not because she was mentally close to combusting, but because she didn’t know the answer. “i... i don’t know sir.” she muttered, and she let her gaze drop the ground, knowing he was giving her the disappointed look. by the time she gathered enough courage to look up, she knew she had been right.
