I am now anxiously waiting for a message from that mom, or my band director to ask what had happened. Not to mention if this order for this girl to wear her mask is coming from her mother, she has disobeyed it so much around me that I had no idea she was meant to keep it on at all times like her mother had yelled at me for. Sorry for the long rant but now I officially have a Karen story.

@-loversrose Personally, I would report it to your band director. That way they have your side of the story first and it also establishs some trust and that you're going to inform them when problems happen. Also by giving it now instead of waiting for it to be asked shows that you're mature and that you're trying to handle the situation.

Had my first encounter with a Karen tonight. Here’s how it went. (A little preface. Masks are not required in my state yet which is the main reason why this whole thing went down.)

I am the captain of the color guard/flags at my high school along with another girl. Tonight was our first home football game, which means our first color guard performance. Masks were required when walking around the game, but not when sitting and watching. And where the guard was going to perform was where the cheerleaders were, wearing no masks. I told the girls on my team that they did not have to wear their masks since we did not have matching masks BUT LEFT THE OPTION OPEN FOR IF THEY WANTED TO OR NEEDED TO OR HAD TO WEAR THEM. Never once did I force someone to take their mask off. We go out at half time everyone without their masks on, do our routines, come back, and pack up to leave for the night. One girl’s mother comes up to me. At first I thought she was going to tell me that we did good tonight and that she was happy. I WAS WRONG. Not a second sooner than I came into earshot of her, she began to yell at me in front of the entire student section at the game. Telling me I have no authority to force her daughter take off her mask, and that I was disgusting for allowing it to happen. I was legit yelled at in front of my whole school for something I did not do, by a parent on my team. This girl has been nothing but frustrating as I already have to go through her mother for every single thing which will prove difficult if I am now a disgusting human being for having her daughter take off her mask when it was an option to do so. Never once did I force her to remove her mask for a performance, and never once did this girl tell me she had to keep her mask on. Instead of taking the blame herself, to made a story where I was the villain for forcing her to take her mask off when she had the option, the mind, and the knowledge to keep it on because her parents wanted to.

How many of you know what a derecho is? I didn’t know what it was until Monday afternoon when one tore through the state of Iowa, decimating everything in its path. A derecho means a hurricane on land. A hurricane in Iowa, with hardly any time to prepare. Thousands are still with out power almost a week later. Food sits rotting on the streets of towns in desperate need to regain power and a massive clean up. Next to NOBODY in the nation knew that a derecho tore through Iowa and Illinois. This derecho was equivalent to a category 2 hurricane. A hurricane in Iowa! We are not prepared for such activity which has left us all in ruins. I am lucky, my home in the country did not loose power, and my home town got power back later that night. But that still doesn’t change the fact that there are still thousands in my state who are in need. Crops were destroyed, 43% of the fields in Iowa were destroyed. I have to drive past several of these fields ever day. There are still hundreds of branches and trees down in my town alone. Not to mention what these other cities must be going through. Our state is in desperate need for help. Help to recover and rebuild from this monster storm. States that are impacted by hurricanes have days in advance to prepare. We had MINUTES. Our homes do not have special windows. Our structures are not meant to withstand 100 mph + wind gusts that ripped through my town and the country side. Please spread the word of our suffering. This derecho was a category 2 hurricane. Please donate to charities that will help and support the clean up and recoveries going on in Iowa. Please check in on loved ones who live in Iowa if they have power. And if you live in Iowa, please help your neighbors clean up, and offer a hand to those who need it in this time.

If any of you would like to see pictures of the destruction in Iowa, or would like to hear my personal story, let me know and I will happily post them here for everyone to see.

A huge storm blew through my town and completely knocked down trees, and the power. It may be a few days before we get electricity back due to the fact there are several towns around us that are also out of power due to this storm. If I am not on it is due to lack of power, and attempts to clean up.

@pyrokinetic4evergr8 I live in Iowa. About 45 minutes away from any large city over 5,000 people. Even that city is out. My home is about 30 minutes away from where I was earlier and we have power out there, but my grandparents (where I was when I posted this) are out so really just hope they stay safe. They’ve got a generator so they should be alright for a little bit anyway
