@-EARTHSONG especially the women of color and transgender people who paved the way for every single gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual and other person in between. Ellen is a white lesbian and sure her being out in the 90s was a big thing but at the same time, that does not matter if you are willing to discredit the people who died fighting for our rights to live and breath. Ellen only felt free to be out and proud about who she was because of the other people who paved the way and this girl looks stupid for not thinking so 

@kiaracarreras exactly!! but she kept going on and on about how Ellen contributed sooo much to the media because she was an out lesbian in the 90s. i even told her that i wasn’t talking about lgbtq+ history media-wise but she just kept bringing up how important Ellen’s sexuality was in the media like girl… lesbians, including Ellen, still wouldn’t be here without those who paved the way for us

@-EARTHSONG oh what are we talking about?! the absolute insanity of that sentence as if there’s not bigger people in history who did more for the movement than Ellen? Marsha P.Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, Stormé DeLarverie, Harvey Milk, Mark Segal and those are just known names and lesser known names. The list goes on
