i don’t usually speak out about things like this, but i’m honestly in shock that a man like this is still allowed to run in elections. i remember being 12 years old on my residential school trip during my last year of primary school. we weren’t allowed our phones, but we all wanted to find out about the election results. i remember the teacher from another class calling my teacher to tell us that trump had won the election. we were a group of 11-12-year-olds living in the uk, but even we knew, in that moment, how doomed america was. since then, i’ve graduated from primary school, finished high school AND took a gap year. now, i’m in my first year of university—and this man is still allowed to run for office?? it’s shocking how, in this amount of time, we’re still facing the same issues of inequality and division. what’s even more concerning is how this entire situation feels like a huge step backward. the idea that some men still believe they should have power over women’s rights and decisions is not only outdated but deeply harmful. it’s heartbreaking that we continue to witness this toxic mindset gaining traction. this isn’t just about politics; it’s about human dignity, equality, and respect. we SHOULD be moving forward, not backwards. It’s hard to understand how, in 2024, we are still facing these same struggles and allowing someone like trump to have any platform at all. his “make america great again” slogan is a misleading and dangerous narrative. anyone who truly believes that his election will make america “great” again is blind to the harm he has caused. he doesn’t care about people—he never has. it’s clear that his presidency was about power and control, not about uplifting or helping those in need. his behavior has hurt countless individuals, and now, he’s making a return for a second round. for those who are terrified of what might happen, i am heartbroken for you. you should NOT have to live in fear for your rights, your safety, and your future.

to the fathers who voted for trump, this is terrible. how could you support a man who has consistently shown such disregard for human rights, especially when it comes to women and children? think about your daughters! think about the future you want for them. their rights are being ripped away, and you're allowing it to happen. mothers, the same goes for you. how can you stand by and let this man undo the progress we’ve fought so hard for? your children’s futures are at risk! it pains me that some people voted for him just because they didn’t want a woman in charge, as if gender was the only thing that mattered when choosing a leader. that’s ridiculous. women have just as much right to run a country as anyone else, and using that as an excuse to back someone as harmful as trump is not just ignorant—it’s dangerous. it’s 2024, and if we’re still letting those outdated ideas shape our politics, then we are holding society back. If anyone is feeling scared or needs someone to talk to right now, please, don’t keep it in. reach out. there are people and resources that are here to help you. you don’t have to navigate this alone. some resources i can suggest include: National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN): 1-800-656-HOPE The Trevor Project (for LGBTQ+ youth): Text START to 678-678 Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741 National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK the fight for equality and safety is far from over, but it’s important to find the strength to keep moving forward together. we NEED to stand up for what’s right, fight for women’s rights, and protect those who need us the most.
