Hello everyone! I hope you are doing alright!
Our shout-out of the day is our very own TKC member, the LOVELY @Fries543 ! Fries has some great positive poetry that I hope you'll check out! Please check out her work and show her some love!
Additionally, just another thing I want to go over. Today (April 6th) is International Asexuality Day! Happy IAD to my fellow aces!
What is asexuality, you say?
Well, it's the 'a' of LGBTQIA+. The a in LGBTQIA+ actually stands for asexual (not ally as some people like to claim). Asexuality is an orientation that describes people who typically don't experience sexual attraction or don't have the desire for sexual relationships.
It is also an umbrella term and spectrum that encompasses a ton of different sexualities such as graysexual, demisexual, and many more.
While some asexual people have little interest in having sex or only are interested in sex in specific circumstances, they may experience romantic attraction. Or not! Asexuality is very broad and it's different for everybody.
My sexuality is always up for debate since I'm still finding out more about myself. However, as of now (and really the past two years), I think I'm at least on the asexual spectrum, and if you asked me, I would define myself as asexual.
I'm aware that there is some stigma of asexuality (or others like it). And that's fine! Regardless of what you believe is valid or not, just know that there are people, including me as of now, that would label themselves as asexual. And that's fine too! They are no different from you or me. They're just fellow people and they should be treated as such.
I just wanted to bring attention to this since I believe that asexuality is way overlooked and a quite lesser known part of the LGBTQIA+ community. If you have any questions regarding asexuality (or anything in general), feel free to ask!
Have a great day and take it easy! It's almost the weekend!
