A person is burdened by nothing more than their own soul. It is not what they lose that breaks them, but what remains within them after the loss. Some things do not leave when they end; they settle in a place beyond the reach of forgetting, lying silently until the day one believes they have finally healed. Then, without warning, the soul reminds them of everything that never truly died within.
