sometimes I have weird conversations with my mom and then I realise it wasn't a weird conversation and she was genuinely just asking about something because she was concerned and cares about me (not to say that I think she doesn't care, but that she usually doesn't bring up those stuff cause it generally just didn't apply to me)
E.g. my conversation with her yesterday, which goes a little something like this
Me: (yapping about these two cool girls I'm friends with) ...and her on and off ex who used to call me a nerd (derogatory) now calls me a nerd (neutral/begrudging respect) cause he found out I'm friends with [friend that he's on and off with] and that I watch this TV show he's been watching that he thinks is cool and now he's chill with me and greets me with a fistbump sometimes...
My mom:
Me: (yapping away)
My mom, *dinner time, we're about to eat*: princess, you know you can tell me anything right? Even if you're being bullied? No one's bullying you at school?
Me: uhh no (?) I'm chill.
My dad: she'd be the bully lol
My mom: YAH, I'M SERIOUS AH
Which is so true like lol, I'm not a bully but I don't take things lying down. If you bite, I'll clap back so hard you'll be seeing stars out of your eyes for days man (metaphorically speaking). Did I ever tell my parents I was called a nerd growing up? Nah man, cause I never thought it was a bad thing and I was perfectly capable of fighting back and nothing escalated. Should I have told them? Probably, but it was so insignificant to me.
I only realised rn that my mom was actually genuinely scared I got bullied soooo I kinda feel bad now
