╰─➤ Two factors in Shinari's quirk are the ice and sodium . How strong that explosion is , depends on the sodium levels in his body ( through the salt that he consumes ) since the body will always have sodium compounds , so , technically , his ice will always explode , right ? Well , that's not quite the case here .
A more advanced use of his quirk comes with manipulating the temperature of his ice . Sodium only reacts to liquid water because liquid water contains hydroxide ions , and this hydroxide ions mixing with sodium is what causes the chemical reaction . This means that his ice NEEDS to melt before it can explode .
Shouto can make ice at 0°C freezing point without much hassle , but with Shinari , it needs to be more precise given its radioactive nature . Not only does he have to take account of his surroundings , but he also has to make sure his ice explodes when he needs it to . If it's a hot day , his ice melts faster , hence it can explode more quickly . It can be dangerous for himself too if he's in the range of the explosion . On the other hand , if it's too cold , then it may take too long for the explosion to occur . Again , this is tied to him manipulating the temperature of his ice . The freezing point of water is 0°C but with dedicated training , he can push that to the extreme negatives , up to when it's too cold to even react to the sodium present . So , he CAN make ice that doesn't explodes ( at the very least , not immediately . ) once he masters the technique of manipulating the temperature of his ice .

✎ . . he can manipulate temperature to freeze whatever he touches like shouto but his ice contains compounds of sodium , which reacts to hydroxide and water , thus causing his ice to ignite and explode .
✎ . . in regards to overusing his quirk , the drawback to it is that he can overfreeze from his ice and if his sodium levels are too low , then it will result in hypotension . on worst case scenario where he continues to use his quirk despite that , then his body will resort to using the sodium in his blood , which could result to his death .

• he usually wears whatever that's given to him , he has his left ear lobe pierced , wears a black stud .
• on valentine's , 60% of the love letters are directed to him and the rest 40% are . . unsurprisingly , directed for his dads . he has never accepted a single confession and respectfully turns down each one of them .
• always has the perfect attendance in all his classes .
• best subjects are history & science .
• is part of the library committee ( actually joined because it's literally the quietest place )
• they actually have a small dog named snow , he often talks to the pet , because he has almost ( literally ) no friends , about his day and stuff he can't share with other people or his parents , it's somewhat comforting .

• on the day of manifesting his quirk , little shinari suddenly creates a bit of ice , and kat and sho just go , " ah , an ice quirk . " and baby shina gets all excited about it but then it fucking EXPLODES and bakugou was just fricking esctatic about it .
• he is actually pansexual . his love interest is ichigo iida . ( iidaocha lovechild oc )
• he snacks on chips and salty food before a fight but he does have salt reserves in his hero suit , just in case he needs it . although if possible , he would rather not use them ( it's unpleasant for him to just down pure salt )
• he WOULD blatantly just eat chips if available in between of a battle .
• highly believe all the major chip companies would be trying to get him as their sponsor once he's a pro hero .
