QOTD:
Which of the six main characters in my novel “The Hippies” do you find yourself relating to more? Why?

@sistergypsy <33. Daisy is definitely the most relaxing to write!

QOTD:
If you are a Jim Morrison fan, what drew you to him? What's your favorite tidbit about him?

@eightieswhore you've painted such a vivid picture that it feels like a memory of a movie I've watched long ago. what a beautiful and surreal introduction to Jim and The Doors that must've been

@-starsailor i'll never forget being eleven, many many years ago, and being out late after dark with my childhood friend. the memory is so clear in my head, we were walking around and spotted a man with his blinds open, sweeping his floors with music booming from his speakers that pierced through his patio glass and hit us outside. without saying anything to one another, we stopped our wandering, sat down on a nearby neighbor's staircase and just listened. at our young age of eleven and twelve we had never heard anything like it before. i remember rushing home a while later and desperately trying to type in faint memories of lyrics to figure out what the song was and who made it. to this day When the Music's Over still blows my mind just as it did the first time I heard it

QOTD:
Would you rather be part of the Beat subculture in NY in the early 60s, or part of the hippie culture out West (or in London) in the mid-late 60s? Who's a prominent figure from your chosen culture you'd like to chat with?

-starsailor

@eightieswhore such an interesting answer. I too would prefer to be part of the Beats, though I very obviously adore the hippie culture. But, to me, hippies were more about living in the moment, taking life as it came. I love to have my brain prodded at, to take in new information and hear other artists speak. I think I’d fit in more with the Beats rather than hippies, I’m not a happy go-lucky, carefree “flowers for peace” person. The Beats had their troubles with drugs and alcohol, but gosh it would be a dream to walk the streets of NYC and hop into a café to hear Leonard Cohen, to hear the ramblings of Kerouac, Ginsberg and Cassady, catch shows of Bob Dylan while he was building his legacy, see the VU and Warhol’s superstars — though as a person I cannot stand Warhol.

@-starsailor as much as my younger self would hate to hear me say this, i think i would take my chances with the beatniks. i think i would've thrived in a world that held artistic and literary expression above all else. though there's still aspects of the hippie culture i do enjoy, like finding the beauty in color, expression and liveliness in such a rigid, purity obsessed world. i hold hedonism and freedom of expression in such high regards in this lifetime - but, having said that, though i would've probably enjoyed being a hippie more, i think i would've been much closer to finding my potential with the beatniks. and that, i think, is the highest form of pleasure

Question of the Day:
Are you a film lover? If so, is there a decade, genre, director, and/or country you prefer?

-starsailor

@sistergypsy Jared Leto is definitely an odd one. He's practically running a cult

sistergypsy

@-starsailor omg yes. Like I remember years ago when suicide squad came out and what people were saying about Jared Leto and how he acted like his character on set too. Apparently he’d be really weird with Margot Robby off set. Ugh changed my whole perspective of him now I just get the creeps

Bonjour! I've been meaning to slip in and make an announcement for the past couple of weeks but I've been so detached.
With summer almost being over and this year being one of the oddest and most mentally/emotionally trying of my life, I have not been inspired nor motivated to write. I hate to announce that the second half of The Hippies season 3 will not be out this year. When I have the chance I will be working hard on seasons 3 & 4! I don't want to give a timeframe, but I'm hoping for early winter.
I want to reassure that I'll never abandon The Hippies. The characters and the world live in my heart and soul. I always knew this book would take years to write, and I'm fine with that, and though it is taking longer than I assumed it would, life happens and I'm trying to keep a positive outlook - as I'm gaining more real life experiences to give to my characters and further flesh out their world.
I hope everyone's summer has been nice!

-starsailor

@sistergypsy oh gosh, such sweet words!! you make me excited to write again. thank you so much <33

Hellooo. Just here to reassure you that I will keep Wattpad for the rest of my life if I have to to finish your story which is the best I’ve ever read and literally life-changing. Take your time. It’s hard work creating such a masterpiece and talent deserves rest too. I hope things ease up for you soon :)

June is almost among us, Summer's pushing in strong!

I'll be spending my summer getting back into writing. I miss The Hippies. I took a quick detour in my personal life that distracted me from creating, but hopefully I am back now. I have one more piece to do for Through the Mist before saying goodnight to that book.
I hope everyone has a safe summer full of peace, love, and growth. <33

little update:
I hate to say I haven’t been writing. I didn’t expect life to get so busy. Without getting too personal I’m in the process of moving to a new place, work has been busy, and my personal life has been a bit hectic. But I’m much looking forward to this move and hoping I’ll feel inspired and motivated to immerse myself in The Hippies again.

It’s only the second month of the year but so much has happened and changed in my personal life that currently is not allowing me much time to be creative. I’m welcoming the changes and flowing with it. And though I hate to pause “The Hippies” in the middle of season 3, I will have to do so after posting episode 5 this Friday. I’m sorry to do this because I do love writing this book, but the characters will all be back this summer. I’m very much looking forward to writing the second half of this insane season. ♡

Hi! Random question, but how did you make your story covers? I want to start focusing on cover creation and planning my stories (for once). On a related note, do you use any templates/planning software?

ChikaraChick

@-starsailor I ordered a cover from her yesterday (pending a response). I can't WAIT to see how it turns out! XD Oh, and the title of my new story is "Rebel Rousers" - let me know what you think! ;)

@ChikaraChick sorry for the late reply, but @AlexandraLing2000 made my cover for "The Hippies." I don't have any specific templates I use other than Canva to make the banners for my seasons. As for planning, I use my phone's notes app and have notebooks full of ideas and character creations/aesthetics. I honestly spent a year brainstorming, creating the plots, characters, setting, and places before writing a word.
