I've been looking around Wattpad recently and can't help but notice all the same kind of stories showing up and have devised a formula for practically every work labelled as a Romance.
Girl with 2000's pop star name meets clearly dangerous man by means out of her control that would be a terrible experience for anyone and in 50 shades fashion, is swept off her feet to a fantasy kingdom of awkward sex scenes and more men fighting over her. r0mANcE ladies and gentlemen. This is why I'm struggling with my next work as it unfortunately seems to be following this pattern. I want to try and make it seem as realistic as possible without flying off to fantasy-land, if anyone had any ideas I'm open to them.

I find that creating a plot to follow other than the romance then bringing the romance into it helps you put it into perspective and break from the mold a bit.
