Tiggy Hancock a talented 15 year old horse rider that competed for Ireland. Has unfortunately passed away due to a riding accident. It was said that it was at a jump but that is all the information that can be found (there are police investigations going on tomorrow) altho I have never hear of Tiggy before now, she looked an amazing rider and sounded like a lovely person.
To know, as an equestrian that these things can, and do happen all the time. To know that by riding these animals we are putting our lives at risk. To know that Tiggy was such a good rider and it happened to her, means this can happen to anyone. To know that I was at training that very same day and it could have happened to anyone in that field or even me. To know that horses are large animals that can easily kill you. To know that all a horse needs to do is accidentally trip onto the rider to kill them. A bad day is all it takes, to take your life accidentally. You misjudged or trip or make mistakes often, so do horses, but unfortunately a horses mistake has more consequences compared to a humans.
I can't imagine how tragic it would've be for the people around her. One minute she was fine the next thing you know she is brought to hospital, only not to make it. She was so young and had so much potential. To think that she hadn't even left school yet, is so sad. She was so young and a whole path ahead of her with supportive friends and family to help her do what she loves. That all to be snatched away from her, most certainly from a tiny mistake if even that, is just tragic.
She was only a couple of years older than me. We love the same sports. We do the same event. To think that it cost her life is tragic but one thing I know is she died doing something she loved. I hope she rests in peace. I hope her family are getting on alright. And please, don't pester her family over this time as I can't even imagine how tragic this is for them.
I send my best wishes for things to get better for them A/N
