part of me wants to be a famous hockey player who goes on to win a gold medal for her country, score a ton of goals, sign expensive contracts, blah blah blah.

but the other part of me LONGS for a niche life. like just moving away to a small town in canada and never returning, coaching youth hockey, getting married, living in a cabin tucked away in the woods.

          	i'm conflicted.

quick jot/rant

but i really do understand why athletes quit their sport because of teammates. especially toxic teammates. like i'd rather be the crappiest player on my team and be surrounded by loving teammates who HELP ME get better-- rather than being the best player on the team surrounded by toxic ass teammates who get jealous when good things happen to you, chirp you, gossip, and start drama

          idk just me tho

lil update about my hockey life

regarding the last post i made on here, i'm actually able to wear the A on my jersey now!! it's been real fun being an alternate captain on my team. yesterday was my first actual game of the season. my team won 3-1 and i was on the ice twice when we scored, so i'm hella thrilled by that. on top of that, i got to lead my team's hand shakes because of my captaincy.

i got lots of compliments from my coaches + i was put on first line left wing + alt captains had a meeting with coach before the game + i got to the rink super early so i could watch the bantam kids play their game with my dad.

yesterday was really solid. and i went to church service too :)
          overall rating: 9/10

update!!
hey guys, i got made an alternate captain for my high school hockey team!! i haven't even been playing hockey for a year. i picked it up this past september and i've gained a lot of recognition from coach.
to clear things up, i'm one of 6 "alternate captains" on my team. coach decided not to have an actual captain on our team, because he fears that the only person who's worthy of the C will abuse the role (and think he's better than everyone else...).
USA hockey also has a rule (don't quote me on this) but you can only have a certain amount of alternate captains on the team, i'm pretty sure 3 is the limit. but there's 6 of us. so coach decided to give us helmet stickers/patches that'll signify our leadership.
anyways, i'm super thrilled about this. i JUST started playing hockey. mind you, most of the players on my high school team are boys. i'm one of the few girls on my team, i haven't even played a FULL season of hockey yet.
and it's crazy to think that i've been made an "alternate captain" over the boys who've been playing hockey since they were 3-5 years old. mind you, we also have some canadians on our team.
and the other five of my teammates who've been made alt captains with me-- have been playing hockey for YEARS. i literally just started as a teenager.

quinn hughes being traded to the minnesota wild was NOT on my bingo card this year. i knew he was gonna get traded, but i've not heard quinn hughes and minnesota in the same sentence AT ALL.

i thought we were for sure gonna get brock boeser, but QUINN FUCKING HUGHES??? HELLO?? this is brad marchand and the panthers all over again. and don't even get me started on the fact that the pens now have stuart skinner...

i'm absolutely heartbroken that rossi and buium were traded. this might be a hot take, but i feel like vancouver easily won the trade. yes, with the wild acquiring quinn hughes, that full well makes us instant cup contenders and he'll not only be a solid fucking defensman, but he'll also help generate some offensive shit for the wild. BUT at the same time, quinn just turned 26. give him a few years and we'll see where everything heads (if he does decide to stay in minnesota. of course nothing is guaranteed because he hasn't even signed with the wild, YET.)

and i'm gonna mention the fact that the canucks have gotten liam ohgren, marco rossi, zeev buium, and a first round pick of the 2026 draft; all of these guys are young as hell. i know ohgren doesn't even really put up points-- but there's still a ton of potential and home for him as he's only 21. two, zeev buium is a pretty damn good rookie. again, doesn't put up points but let's mention the fact that this guy was a hobey baker finalist in his NCAA years and he's also won a championship with the university of denver.
marco fucking rossi; this guy is truly fucking amazing. it actually hurts to see him get traded. again, SUCH a young guy, so much fucking potential-- AND he puts up points? if we held on to him just for a few more seasons, we definitely could have expected him to reach 100+ points.

overall, the past 24 hours have been hella fucking chaotic as a minnesota wild and pittsburgh penguins fan. very bittersweet, but we'll see where all of this goes.
