I fell in love with writing in the sixth grade. My beloved elementary school teachers introduced me to my favourite author, Edgar Allen Poe. His words touched my heart so deeply in a way no other's had. His poetry made my breath cease and my heart stop beating. I felt within my soul a depth of feeling I had never felt before. By no means am I an excellent writer, but as Anne Lamott expressed, "Almost all good writing begins with terrible first efforts, but you need to start somewhere."
