Story time!!!
So I’m somewhat androgynous looking, leaning quite a bit towards feminine. Which can sometimes lead to a bit of confusion to little kids and old ladies about my gender.
When I went camping recently, the campsite had this bouncy pillow thingy (idk how to describe it lol) and it was the communal space for kids to go. I was probably the oldest there, but I made some friends and I played with my siblings.
So on this lovely day, I’m wearing rainbow pajama pants and a Mickey Mouse shirt (it’s the Mickey Mouse silhouette only he also has a beard and is wearing red sunglasses), and I also have a little bit of makeup on.
This little boy, maybe three or four years old, who I had sort of gotten to know a bit because of the communal bounce pillow, comes up to me and asks “are you a boy or a girl?”
I’ve heard this question so many times I just start cackling, and instead of going into detail about the complexity of my gender, I just answer “I’m a girl I think” and he nods and goes “okay ‘cause you looked like a boy.”
At this point I’m laughing so hard I almost start crying.

@Cvrtvtubu well you see my parents are interesting people…they were hardcore Christians (still supportive, but were pretty invested in the church) until I told my mom when I was seven (ahhh stupid stupid stupid) that I had a crush on a girl in my class, then she took me to a pride parade and explained the terms and stuff. She’s come out (at least to me and my dad) as bisexual. My dad called Asterion (the Minotaur…) on the cover of Court of the Dead hot. So there’s a lot of…a lot going on lol. I really hope your situation gets better, you deserve so much! (also if needed you can borrow my parents for a little while)
