I completely understand how you feel because I'm just like you. I also write stories, not because I want to call myself an author, but because I have so many imaginations and ideas that I want to turn into stories and share with others.
Yes, comments and votes really do matter. They encourage us, motivate us, and make us feel that someone is enjoying what we create. There's nothing wrong with wanting that. I still get happy every time someone comments or votes on my stories.
But over time, I realized something. If we keep expecting comments and votes from every chapter, we'll only end up feeling disappointed. Instead, I started telling myself, "I'll write because I love this story. Even if only one person reads it, one person comments, or one person votes, that's enough for me to continue."
We can't control how readers interact, but we can control why we write. If we write because we enjoy bringing our imagination to life, the right readers will eventually find us. It may take time, but they will come.
So please don't lose hope. Don't let numbers decide the fate of a story that came from your heart. Keep writing, enjoy the journey, and let your imagination shine. I'm sure there are silent readers who genuinely love your story, even if they don't always leave a comment.

I am also really sorry for not being there and for not commenting earlier. My Wattpad ID was gone, and I could never get my account or stories back.
