"We promise to protect you, Skylar." I look at them after what Cyra said to me, and they are looking at me as if I were a damsel in distress.
          
          I am at the corner of this room, struggling to keep my sanity while gasping for air. I keep both my hands on my ears to stop the bleeding and to block out the eerie sounds from the zombie at the same time.
          
          Suddenly, I dropped both my shoulders and stopped crying as if I lost my ability to feel any emotion. I looked around and saw a lot of blood, guns, hopeless survivors, and horrible zombie faces trying to open the door.
          
          We have nowhere to go.
          
          I can see the determination they have to protect us and give all their strength.
          
          The door is the only barrier separating us, the survivors, from the zombies.
          
          "But I can protect myself," I coldly whispered, still with a cold expression as if I am the one who will beat them to death if they can’t surpass their hunger.
          
          ...and I am the only one who has the power to bring them out alive.
