⚠️ TW: menstrual stuff, phorid flies, blood
Obviously a TMI post but it kinda traumatized me to see so I have to talk about it before I go crazy, read at your own risk.
okay so, my house has been repeatedly seasonally (around spring/summer) getting what we thought were fruit flies but were actually phorid flies (they look similar, one has red eyes one doesn't, phorid flies feed on decaying organic matter like feces, look up phorid flies if you think you might have'em or if you don't, it's good to have a ref) during the time of this situation we didn't know they were phorid flies. During this week I had been on my period (I call it my MANstrual cycle lol, get it? cause I'm a dude? jsjdjsjdj I'll go-), and had been going through a depression spike, so executive dysfunction was pretty high-
Later in my bleeding cycle I had gone in to change my final pad, I made the mistake of accidentally kicking the small trashcan by the toilet and a mILLION FLIES START SWARMING OUT OF IT- (exaggeration, definitely a noticable amount though) I looked in and saw those "fruit flies" were coming from my used pads.
They were b r e e d i n g in my u s e d p a d s .
w ha t the f uck!?
so obviously I freak out about it, but try to get rid of them as calmly as possible so my neighbors wouldn't think that I'm a madman holding the trashbag out as far away from me as possible, which I really wanted to do.
Anyways it's safe to say I double wrap my used pads and take them out to the bin at the end of every cycle-
