I'm a casual writer of fantasy and fan fiction.  I consider myself a well-rounded literature nerd, with broad interests--from Shakespeare to Lord of the Rings, A Wrinkle in Time to Marvel Comics.   I have a soft spot for writings in the graphic novel or comic format, so expect me to have a lot to say about Chris Hastings or Ryan North.  As a writer, however, I prefer to look at things from a perspective of science; a biophysicist by trade, I am always excited to throw some scientific realism into my fantasy.  Perhaps Science Fantasy?
