If you imagine human existence as a 24-hour day: agriculture appears in the last 30 minutes, industrial society appears in the last few seconds. As someone with Autism, how I feel on any given day is always forced to excuse myself yet again for not being able to function the way I'm asked to, because I am at all times hyperaware that we're just Stone Age bodies in a modern world. This modern life feels so intoxicating that I cannot bare it without being intoxicated.
