I was born on 20th July 1969.
My kids cannot believe I was born in the 1900s. It's ancient history to them.
The 1960s. There's no denying it. It is ancient history.
When I reached my 50th birthday I decided to write a diary to record my life, my normal every-day comings and goings, and my thoughts and fears about ageing, death, and the menopause - which I'm going through right now. Hot flushes galore. I basically sweat for a living.
It's a strange thing being a good-looking woman, having the power that yields, and realising, as your reach 50, that the power has more or less slipped away and society doesn't value you as much as it did.
I look in the mirror and I see ageing. There are wrinkles. More than a few strands of grey, and I have gained weight around the middle.
But the lockdown hasn't helped. I spend so much time sitting on my lardy backside these days. Homeschooling the kids means me being inside every day all day. If I'm not trying to teach them maths, I'm cooking a meal or emptying bins and loading the dishwasher. This meagre existence doesn't keep the weight off.
I have a blog where you can read about my life now - coronavirusdiaries.co.uk
