Hey guys! I feel silly for this but I could really use your wisdom:
So basically, my husband has a friend who's younger than him by a few years and that friend became almost like a family to us. Recently he got married and naturally, we were invited to the engagement party and the wedding. On those occasions, I've come to meet and know his cousin, who's the same age as him and was engaged herself. We became fast friends and she ended up inviting me to her wedding while I invited her and her future husband to come over for Shabbat when they'll want. I was very excited to make a new friend, something I've felt never really happened to me before but it didn't last. When I told our family friend his cousin invited me to her wedding, his expression fell. I knew that they used to be really close... So close that their parents were afraid they might fall in love with each other and ended up separating them. He ended up hinting at me that his cousin's intentions of becoming friends with me was simply so she could get more involved in his life because she's "Obssessed with him". In my honest opinion, I think his family's ideas got into his head too much and he's scared his new wife will get the wrong idea. I myself don't know her well enough and now I'm scared I'm being used but I don't want to think this way because I'm geniunely interested in forming a friendship with her! My husband suggested to maybe take his friend's words to consideration because my husband is scared of either of us (The friend and I) getting hurt if that was what the cousin was trying to do. What do you think I should do? If you need more details to help with the advice, I'll try to provide!
