          When it comes to writing, progress does not always mean going forward, watching your word count march higher.
          
          Sometimes, forward progress means deleting 1k words that just don’t work with your narrative.
          
          Sometimes, forward progress means ripping out three chapters of your outline because the plot took a turn and they’re no longer relevant.
          
          Sometimes, forward progress means taking a few steps back. And that’s okay.
