Acknowledging that Mapleshade and her kittens were initially victims of a xenophobic and toxic clan culture doesn’t erase her later crimes. They aren’t mutually exclusive ideas. It’s just bizarre that fans seem to want nuanced stories and when they’re presented with one (however flawed it may be) they immediately argue that the character was secretly evil/manipulative/irredeemable the whole time?? It just makes Mapleshade boring and one-note in my opinion.
