Hi Heather, I think I gave you the wrong impression somehow. I host Dragon Trivia because it's fun and I think some of the people playing with me are having fun too. I prefer to dedicate my stories to people who are interested in the story's genre, and Dragon Trivia seemed like a great way to do that for a dragon-themed story. A dedication is not a promotion tool in my mind, and I don't consider myself the gatekeeper of that thread. I'm not the only person to have posted a trivia question there, though I did begin the thread and generally I keep it going.
On the other hand, I do see that thread as a chance to let people know I'm obsessed enough with dragons to write a 100-episode series about them, and I see no reason to hide the fact that I want my fellow Wattpadders who are interested in dragons to read my work about dragons.
You obviously make no qualms about speaking your mind, which I deeply respect. However, you seem to be accustomed to people trying to keep you quiet as a result, which I guess is the unfortunate but natural reaction a lot of people have to a no-beating-around-the-bush approach. I know because I also prefer to be blatantly direct most of the time.
I have no desire to remove your opinions from my wall as long as they're respectful. The way I see it, you bring up an interesting topic. Where's the line between friendly exchange of ideas and shameless self-promotion? Or is it a grey area? I think the purpose of this site to connect with people who share similar interests so that each of us can support each other's passion for the written word. I think my Dragon Trivia thread is great for getting that ball rolling. I welcome everyone's feedback on this topic. I want to hear what my fellow Wattpadders think about it.
