I always get sad when I realize an author could be dead and we never know because it would be the last thing for the family to do is post saying they passed :(

They most likely did as to why I have two theories
            1. is that rwbys 4 season so shit that the author didn't watch it or didn't want to build on that foundation 
            2. they have severe writer's block the likes of which have never been seen or documented for the human race to know about
