So, I was just working on some late birthday art for myself and totally not procrastinating on it like usual when I got to thinking about what Mom had said about becoming an artist or writer for Toby Fox and Fangamer. I was kinda curious about that and looked up how to join their team.
Artists have it easy. All you need is a portfolio of your work, resumes are optional because an awesome portfolio shows way more than pages upon pages of your character and work ethic. You also need a passion for pop culture and video games as well as an understanding of how artwork becomes prints, enamel pins, graphics for shirts, patterns, keychains, and other products Fangamer sells.
Writers have two options. They can either help write and edit deep dives into localization, artbooks, books about a game's lore, and other books relating to the games they market and celebrate or become published authors, gain the license to use specific IPs from their creators, and collab with Fangamer. They are not open to fanfic or works building on what's already canon. If I wanted my works to be canon, I would have to talk with Toby about making them canon before I could include them in published works for Fangamer. Other than that, fanfic is still just fanfic. It's not canon.
Also, Fangamer isn't hiring for either position right now. They're looking for tech geniuses. I don't understand code.
