Adair Ashby writes Southern Gothic horror rooted in the blue-collar communities, forgotten mill towns, and winding back roads of Appalachia. Drawing from years spent traveling with electrical construction crews across the South, he believes the scariest stories are often the true ones-he just adds the ghosts.

His fiction blends working-class life, family, grief, folklore, and the supernatural, focusing less on the monster itself than on the ordinary people forced to stand in its path. Whether set in a haunted motel, an abandoned textile mill, or a mountain community where some roads should never be traveled, his stories explore the choices people make when fear meets love, loyalty, and loss.

His books share a connected world called **Wire Nuts**, where different crews, different jobs, and different horrors are linked by the same roads.

Adair lives in the mountains of Western North Carolina with his wife, son, several dogs, and a houseful of cats. When he isn't writing, he's usually exploring the landscapes and small towns that inspire his next nightmare.
