Snippet of something I'm working on(Last paragraph in the comments) “Ray… Can we please just find a tavern and keep moving tomorrow? I’m tired.” Eleanor stops walking, her silky auburn hair moving softly in the mild wind. In front of her, a tall man turns around. His piercing green eyes looking at her, carefully considering the situation. They’re running out of time and should keep moving, but the well-being of Eleanor is the most important thing to him. The man, Ray, takes a small careful step towards her, reaching out his hand. A short pause as she looks down at his hand. He’s wearing fingerless leather gloves. He claims they’re the best gloves he owns. Apparently, they help his grip on his sword, making it easier when fighting. Eleanor claims no such knowledge as she prefers a bow and arrow. Everyone knows how unusual of a weapon that is for a pirate, but she never cared. She’s always preferred fighting from a distance compared to close combat. “There’s a small village not far from here. We can rest for the night, but we’ve got to keep moving early tomorrow. Would that be ok?” A genuine worry filling his voice. The connection to Eleanor is the strongest he’s ever felt. He has never had much of a bond with anyone else. He never actually knew his biological family. The crew on his old ship raised him and, at one point, appointed him captain. They had found him somewhere, though they never gave him any specifics. He felt a lot of pressure having to be in a position of power over the people who raised him. When he eventually broke under this pressure, the crew told him how disappointed they were. The only family he had ever known told him they were disappointed. He never truly got over that.

For a moment before she answers, they lock eyes. Her deep brown eyes finding his green eyes and getting lost in them. His eyes and how he looks at her always make her feel safe. They had travelled together for three years by now, just the two of them. Occasionally people would join them for a quest or two, but not for much longer than that. Others would travel with them if they happened to be going the same way as them. So it’s safe to say it was pretty much just the two of them.“Yeah, that would be ok.”
