The nurse's station is quiet, well the whole day had been peaceful but you know the superstition. You never want to jinx the calm atmosphere. Well one off the new doctors speaks up as the easy conversation flows around me.
"Its very peaceful you know." Everyone cleared at her, including nurses as if she had personally offended her, she just shrugs.
"Oh please just stating the obvious." As if on cue chaos erupted which meant
On all hands on deck, it is going to be a long night.
Hours went by with pouring patients, and I lost count off many patients I saw. Suddenly a family rushed in, an old lady on a stretcher. I froze.
Oh fuck. I am going to be treating my ex-in law's.
I shook away that thought and rushed over and took control off the situation. The old lady (Or more like my 'ex-husband's' grandmother) snapped at me.
"Bring the actual doctor, we don't need nurses like you-"
"Mam, with all due respect unless you want your dear one to die let me treat him." I turned to my sister who is visibly gawking at me and too stunned to comment. I checked his pulse it is too elevated.
"He had a heart attack-"
"Noted."
I worked on him and stabilized him. I felt their stunned looks on me, and I suddenly hate my genetics that I am literally the male version off Divya.
I turned to them "He is stabilized, I'll get the doctors."
Maa ji asked me abruptly she looked older "What is your name?"
"Dev Shah." I turned away and ran into a sprint once again. Eventually things calmed down and I managed to drag my feet as I checked on patients, as I continued to check the patient charts someone forcefully grabbed my wrist.
"You bastard." That all too venomous voice. Divya. I simply looked up. She continued.
"How dare you appear after all these years!? Dev Shah huh-" She raised my hand to slap me and I caught her wrist, her eyes widened.
"Mam just because I am a nurse doesn't mean you can disrespect me.
