People always say that what you write is from personal experience, but to me that's what professors say to make it sound like thay figured out the whole world. Why would someone write about themselves if their life was terrible and boring. To me, that is just a saying just as obvious that a bee can sting. People can understand if you're naturally good at certain genres I will give the professors that. But your stories, your own writing, is what YOU want to make of it and not everyone will understand.
