@Avni_Singh007 1.What inspired the blurb you wrote for your story?
I wanted the blurb to capture the exact feeling my story gives mystery, tension, and a sense that there’s more beneath the surface. I was inspired by the way I imagined a reader should feel right before turning the first page...Curious, maybe even a little unsettled, but still drawn in.
2.Which part of your blurb do you think works best as the hook?
I think the opening line “When the past hunts, the present bleeds” works best as the hook. It instantly sets the tone dark, sharp, and a little unsettling. It hints that the story is about more than just murders, it’s about history, secrets, and consequences chasing the present. That one line, for me, is what makes readers stop and want to know more.
3.Did you find it challenging to write your blurb without revealing too much of the story?
Definitely. I had to rewrite it a few times because it’s so tempting to spill too many details. But I realised a blurb isn’t about telling the story. It’s about teasing it. So I focused more on the emotions and atmosphere than the actual events.
4.Do you think blurbs should capture the tone of a story more, or the plot more?
For me, the tone matters more. A plot can be explained inside the story, but the tone is what prepares the reader for the journey ahead. If the blurb reflects the exact feeling of the book, readers already know what kind of world they’re stepping into.
5.What’s one tip you’d give to other writers who struggle with writing blurbs?
Don’t overthink it. Blurbs aren’t meant to tell the whole story, just to spark curiosity. Imagine you’re giving a friend a one line reason to read your book. Focus on what makes your story different, keep it short, and leave the reader with a question they’ll want answered.
I had a great time answering these questions. Thank you so much for letting me share my journey and giving me this moment. ♡
