I am a huge fan of both the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series (Game of Thrones) and Doctor Who, and have been for many years now.
I have always wanted to write, but never really known how to start. I have slowly been developing an idea I've had to a long (trilogy of) novels that first came to me about 4 years ago.
Although, since I am relatively new to writing I figured I should start writing some short stories about things I know well. They would be comparatively easier to write and would require a lot less exposition. So, bring on the Doctor Who and Game of Thrones fan-fiction!
