"Fragrance of Roses"
Flowers need love to bloom sweet,
just as hearts remember old kisses.
Fish chase the river's fleeting joy-
who decides what earns forgiveness?
Even happiness wears scars,
even laughter can deceive.
We lose our souls to the night,
feeding hungers we'll never satisfy.
The darkness smells of roses,
the body in my arms is not yours.
Flowers need love to bloom sweet,
though petals fall all the same.
We cling to stolen warmth,
by dawn leaves only empty sheets.
