Today is my 18th birthday! Wow, it feels weird to be legal now.
Hey! I was very intrigued by your reading list collection. Though a certain list did catch my eye a lil differently, “Weak female characters”. Well, thats a common dislike we share, i dont like stories with leads who aren’t that ‘strong’. But the definition of the word ‘strong’ can vary for different people. I dont mean to hate or be rude, Wattpad is a safe space for all of us I intend to keep it that way.
And for that I would like to share with you a small peice of info, when readers like us add the books we read into lists like “Worst/weak” we automatically put down a fellow writer on this application.
Why not constructively criticise? You have your own opinion and i don’t want to change that I just wanted to say that it takes alot of effort to write a book (as im sure you know) the least if not appreciate a source of entertainment we can try not to humiliate them.
Again I don’t mean to hurt/ hate etc. just wanted to share, Thanks anyways.
Thanks for replying! @Aisha_1328 See, i totally get your point and truth is i dint just stumble on your profile it was more of a friend who told me how upset she was that her book was added into a list like that one. Now thing is i can’t expect for you to not make such lists bcoz this is your account but as a friend and a fan of a typical book under the list category i dont think that book deserves to be there. Now, there are more than 50 books with 20mil views those authors don’t get so affected by criticism but the other budding writers do. I would just request you to probably think over the name of the list a little. :) :)
I try to comment this respectfully on the books but the authors get offended, even if I criticise constructively :)
And now I edited its name to worst because I stumbled upon a mafia book where the female lead was calling her teacher a whore Even though she didn’t do anything that extreme, that pissed me off more when the commentors were praising the lead. In my opinion, I think its rude to call someone a whore or degrade someone if they call you out on your faults. I just thought What type of message are we sending to the young readers here? If some authors don’t want to be put down then they need to stop making characters that are disrespectful for no reason, I know there is a thing called character development but that doesn’t justify the characters behaviour. For example if you have been abused, you can’t go and abuse others and then wait for the character development (in my opinion). I mean you know how its like to be abused and the you are gonna go and inflict that pain on others? Its worse when the female lead is a b i t c h and disrespectful and then the comments are like "She is a Queen!", "I wanna be like her", " she is What I aspire to be". Its also worse when there is an abusive relationship going on and the commentors think that its cute and all. I don’t want to hurt or offend anyone. I am simply just stating my opinion. For years I have been quiet, I read different types of books and 80% of them involve a weak female lead who can’t stand up for herself because the male lead is handsome, even if he is cheating, emotional & physical abusing, gaslighting or manipulative.
