@AletheaWhite Good day again reader! I am elated that you enjoyed my book. Though, from my understanding of your question, I think that you might have misread or misinterpreted the text. Firstly, Carlos went out with another girl to spite Gabrielle based on the conflict they had with Gabrielle disagreeing to lose her virginity in a club. Him going out with another girl is to make a statement, further down in the book Carlos's behavior is less aggressive which defends the idea that Carlos didn't mean to make such a big impact on her feelings, but he only wanted to get back at her for her refusal. Secondly, Carlos did not broke Gabrielle's arm, but it was she who broke/sprain her own arm because of her desperate attempt to flee the scene. I hope this explanation feeds your confusion.

@Burkesrules  I am reading two of your books.  I normally hate reading anything about slaves but you give each characters a backbone, dignity and fire.  I like books about Vikings .....have you ever watched Viking, the star and his sons  especially the first born are very good looking lol. Anyways these two stories capture all my attention.....thanks
