can someone tell me why northern lights is the most popular to win mgp 2026
like i get she’s marcus and martinus’ sister and that probably boosts her popularity a little but i struggle to see what makes the song stand out
the first half is great until the end of the chorus but from there it just doesnt build at all, there is no “catharsis-point”, it’s more or less just another generic pop song, really
my favourite in mgp is prayer right now, all the other songs are just kinda meh for me (except for maybe forevermore), okay well there is not a lot building in prayer either but at least it stands out in a way that its personal and makes you feel emotions while northern lights is just a catchy song to listen to
sure, we need those types of songs in esc too but northern lights doesnt stand out frok those either.
probably nobody read this. but i want to yap about my opinions (and then i shall return with my esc opinions in april where you can read me yap much more than this)

cherrifire made a short animatic for her bannerfall smp character’s backstory and i was like “oh its ren okay” then i just EXPLODED cause ITS HELLFIRE DUO AGAIN YAY
i think i got the adrenaline boost i needed
im so hyped for bannerfall even though i probably wont really be able to watch it cause all the streams are usually late in the evening. but i will be able to watch some of the start next monday which im really really excited about (bonus that i can finally watch apo’s stream cause she always streams at 2am for me :(()

i need to write more vampires smp stuff with apo cause man shes so underrated. almost all of the fics are either centered around avid and scott or owen.
i mean basically everyone she cared about in oakhurst either died or turned against her so i get that theres nothing connecting them to the others anymore but still

and also why is the fandom treating avids death like the main event that happened at the end of vampires
there are so many other people who are not all connected to avid that much and all of them have their own life and own tragedies besides avids death

i finished watching vampires smp.
i know i’m two month late but i’m so glad i gave another (like what third i think?) chance to it because it was such a beautiful story. i watched apo’s pov and to be very honest, i have mixed feelings about her character, i did get kinda annoyed at her at some points, and i see why others called them a monster. but she was doing it for love after all. she just wanted to see cherri.
and she did. they made it out and though i am kinda sad that we don’t get to know what happened, how the reuniting went, i think the ending was beautiful this way. certainly bittersweet, but beautiful.
i know everyone was talking about avid’s death how it’s the saddest thing and yeah, i get it. but i feel like v!apo is such an underrated character and there’s just so much depth to her and all that’s happened must’ve really traumatised her even if they made it out alive.
i might write an ending where she meets cherri actually… but i don’t know if anyone would read it. it doesn’t really matter, though.
