My poem of the week
Together
We are best friends.
We did everything, together.
We clean, cooked, grieved, together.
You are there when I need you most.
You were there when she died.
You put a smile on my face when I need it most.
I am your little girl.
I am your best friend.
I am your granddaughter.
We are best friends.
We go shopping, together.
We get communion, together.
You grew old.
You got hurt more.
You went to the hospital more.
I grew older.
I won ribbons.
I grew prettier, to you.
We are best friends.
We smiled, together.
We cried, together.
You fell ill, you got better.
You got worse,
You showed strength, you put up denial.
I shut people out.
I had bad dreams.
I let my depression consume me.
We are best friends.
We did everything, together.
We laughed, together.
You grew pale, while I grew quiet.
You grew cold, while I stopped reading.
You got quiet, while I grew weak.
You grew tired, while I had hope.
You let go, I cut the rope.
You got buried, I need therapy.
We are best friends.
We shared everything together.
But we didn't die, together.
