His hand lifted to cup her cheek, and she allowed herself half a second to lean in.
“I have a plan,” she swore. “I promise.”
“I hate when you promise.”
She gave him a faint smile, taking her turn to scan him from head to toe. “And I hate it when you’re hurt.”
Indeed. One of his shoulders was slumped in an awkward angle, and his breathing was irregular in that familiar cadence that told her he had at least a few broken ribs. She felt her pulse spike, but for the first time in almost a month, she was exactly where she wanted to be.

Slowly, she looked up, and it clearly took a lot of effort to do so.
The breath knocked out of his lungs when her sharp gaze, contrary to her weakened state, locked with his.
Those were the same eyes he saw every time he looked into the mirror.
Those very eyes widened, and the emotions between them wavered.
Shock. Grief. But most of all, fear.
“You’re not supposed to be here,” she rasped, frozen.
Her voice… there was something he couldn’t place about it. Something oddly comforting and painfully familiar.
And then he felt that old sensation of an erased memory clicking into place. A name.
He must’ve said it out loud as well, because she flinched.
“You’re not supposed to remember me either,” she whispered.
And then the world went black.

I swear, it’s literally been years since I stepped foot (figuratively speaking) into this app LOL. I hope everyone’s been doing well!
Lowkey, this is the WORST possible time to do this, seeing as (arguably) the most important exams in my life are like a month away, but I’ve been rereading Lodestar & Unravelled (honestly just because they’re a few of my favourites HAHAHAH), and something just stirred in me wanting to write again?? For now, I’m telling myself this is just an outlet LOL
Anyway, it’ll probably be some time before I get back to posting, but I’ve had this idea that has been brewing for a while on an original fanfic surrounding an OC (*wink*). It’ll still be in the KOTLC universe, with no specific timeline, but I wanted to check up on how everyone would feel about it.
It’s literally been years since I’ve written on here hah, and I’d like to say my writing has improved and I’ve grown more as a person (or maybe me finding my old work cringe as hell is just part of the rediscovery process), and I do know that there are some of you out there who have been following along, and reading and supporting since a few years ago (THANKS! <3) but I also find that one thing I miss is engagement with my readers and working on solely plot over worldbuilding just for fun. I know a lot of my initial readers would’ve grown up (like me) and probably grown OUT of the fandom and this platform, but if there’s still anyone out there who remembers my work (THANK YOU!) and would be interested in reading more once my exams are out of the way, I’d love to know :)
