Did you know? there’s a whole civil war going on over the scientific names of three subspecies of grey wolves. There’s the Tibetan wolf, which is referred to as Canis lupus chanco. The only problem with that is, the Mongolian wolf is also referred to as Canis lupus chanco. A proposed name for the Tibetan wolf is Canis lupus laniger, but it’s still referred mostly as Canis lupus chanco, which causes some great confusion as the Himalayan wolf is ALSO CALLED CANIS LUPUS CHANCO.
