“In a racist society it is not enough to be non-racist. We must be anti-racist.” - Angela Davis.
“If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” - Desmond Tutu.
If you are not speaking out against the institutionalised racism that has led to the countless murders of innocent black lives, then you are part of the problem.
If you are not being an activist for the Black Lives Matter Movement, then you are part of the problem.
If you are not using your white privileged voice to educate yourself and others to speak out against racism, then you are part of the problem.
Your refusal to advocate on social media and use your privilege to your advantage is inherently racist.
Now is not the time to be silent!
.
.
.
Some simple ways to show your support for #BLACKLIVESMATTER are;
- SIGN A PETITON.
It only takes two minutes of your time to show your support. I have attached a link in my bio where you can sign.
- DONATE.
If you can not afford to donate there is a link in my bio to a video you can steam and leave on in the background. All proceeds go to a number of BLM charities.
- PROTEST.
Show your support by protesting peacefully. Unfortunately where I live has cancelled their protest due to the current circumstances surrounding Covid-19.
However you can still show your support by virtually protesting on social media, or placing a BLM sign on your window.
And most importantly...
-SPEAK OUT
Use your privilege and your voice to educate others. And especially use your privilege to amplify black people’s voices!
AND
- GET EDUCATED.
Educate yourself on the structural racism imbedded in our society.
Tune into cyldebuiltradio.com on June 6+7 for a day of online protests, art, speeches, discussions, music and more.
