Wait waitwaitwaitwait-
          You like to rant about KOTLC????
          Tell me more! :D

@kNGT_fringed_gentian You're fine! Happens to everyone :)

            Yup. Whenever my sister or mom criticizes something when I was really really proud of my work, I just storm off (lol) beceause it is hard to take their feedback!

            It would make the most sense for Sophie to have the same race as her parents, though, so you do have a point.

            Well, we'll never know the way that is the most reasonable XD

            I get your point on rolemodles, but it doesn't mean there has to be the specific one you're looking for in every story. There are literally hundreds of stories that have LGBTQ stuff in it, that it's fine that one series doesn't. Matchmaking does make it less probable that homoesexual couples won't show up, but, idk, people can surprise others in no time, whether it be bad or good.
            That...makes a lot of sense. As I said, it's probably her own norm that she bases it on (not saying anything about America being a white-based country, cause it isn't). I do now have kinda a bigger problem because you see that her world building is profound. Everything that she created in her world is great. Not as much of her creativity truly reveals itself in her characters or later plots, but it does in her world. So now that you've brought that up, it is something to look into. Another thing to think about, though, is knowing that the Lost Cities is on the same Earth as humans, but it's a different world. There may even be a lot of blacks around, they just aren't the people that are important to the story. If you haven't noticed, Shannon Messenger is bringing in more blacks and more diverse characters, so maybe there's hope yet.

            I should just put it on my birth certificate...not that I haven't yet...hehe XD

@Amaly-Lux
            Sorry it took me so long to respond :(

            Yeah, unfortunately, I do get it. And sometimes it's really hard to get those criticisms even if everyone hates it.

            Team Octagons for the win!

            Hmm, I suppose that's true. Especially since Sophie's genes were tweaked so they're super, extra weird.

            Yeah, it is. I'm really hoping that's not why he wants to be with Sophie, but I guess we'll never know.

            Okay, fair points. I think this may be the first thing we disagree on. I do it mostly on principle: for me representation is huge. It's important that all people are fairly and accurately represented in books in movies, that they have a chance to see themselves in stories. Because—let's be real—sometimes it's hard to find a role model in real life, and most people's role models are someone they can relate to. Imagine you can't find a hero in real life or on paper/screen. That just sounds really sad to me. But now that I think about it, I can understand why LGBT relationships aren't featured in KOTLC. If the point of matchmaking is to produce talented generations, then pairing two elves of the same gender wouldn't happen. And the scorn they would face as bad matches... Still, I'd like to think that there is a homosexual bad match hiding out there in the lost cities.
            As for race... that I have stronger feelings about. I recently began reading Unlocked, and one of the things I paid a lot of attention to was the map. The chapter is called something like "A Truly Global World" and if you look at it, Foxfire is even in Africa. So my question is, if you're going to go to all that trouble to prove that race doesn't matter in the elven world, then why count all the major poc characters on one hand?

            Too bad I don't have a middle name as cool as that! XD

@kNGT_fringed_gentian That's true. It is really hard to accept criticism when other people say, "Wow! That's really good; I love it!" You know?

            Exactly, thank you! Yes! Go team octagons! XD

            I think it just has to do with genes. Skin color is especially weird XD. I know a family with a white mom and a black father. They have three daughters who all have dark skin like their dad because of the dominance in his genes. Two of his daughters have his skin color exactly, and the other one has lighter skin, so idk. It's hard to say. It would make the most sense for her not to have him as a father, but genetics are weird lol

            That's an interesting point. I think that the way Shannon Messenger has been going, yes. That's very true. That would also explain why Fitz wants to be with Sophie so badly. Not only because she's Sophie, but because of his image too. Wow. That's... so sad :(

            So, I'm someone who likes it when books don't go into politics that much because it just ruins its actual purpose: to entertain. But my opinion on all that stuff? I like what she's doing. I like it that everyone is straight and that everyone's either a girl or a boy depending on their XX or XY chromosomes that prove their actual gender. It's not the identity that they WANT to have; it's the identity they actually ARE. And it makes sense that there aren't as many blacks in her universe, because in America (where I assume she lives) the population of blacks to whites is a big difference. There are more whites than blacks. That's just how it is, and because she's used to that, she incorporates that into her writing. I'm interested in what you think too :)

            Totally! Stupid is practically my middle name XD
