Unpopular opinion: Doki Doki Literature Club isn't actually a great game and when you play after seeing other visual novels a few times, it's kinda dull in comparison. (I don't know if it's me just being paranoid, but it feels a bit... obvious that you can't properly romance anyone)
Also: Not the game's fault but, it's popularity isn't that great because some YouTubers that streamed it didn't realise that trigger warnings are NOT optional. I don't know how many people saw (it's nearly a year old by now) but there was a thread on Reddit where somebody made an expanded list of trigger warnings. There were people in the comments complaining about spoilers, and one of the comment threads ended up as a petty argument between somebody who knew what the warnings were for and was glad they were there and somebody who wanted to complain about spoilers despite not even knowing why the warnings were there. It's not Team Salvato's fault but I feel like people straight up not knowing what 'content/trigger warning' means caused a few unnecessary problems.
Despite that... the news articles on it are biased and not even factually correct and I disagree with them.
(OKay Ik it came out last year but I had to say this)
