I've done as you asked and my verdict is continue to write. The benefits of writing as huge in regards of developing yourself. My recommendations consider your writing style and stick to one. I've noticed your flow is best when you use an ordinary language it is also a good match considering the age of your characters, the time and your target reader. I'll follow your story for a bit and comment if you would like me to.

@JWPThackray your welcome! So your story did indeed get on my reading list, mainly because of your nice message. It is a bit difficult for me to read but hi that might just increase my English vocabulary.
